Music Monday: Prog-Chiptune “Anarres” by Jesse James

I listen to music all the time. If it’s not playing for reals in the room, it’s playing in my head. So I think it’s time for me to kick off some homages to music on Mondays. Because we all need a little pick-me-up when Monday comes around, no?

For this inaugural entry in the #MusicMonday series:

Shout-out to friend Jesse James for this cool new composition on his upcoming prog-chiptune EP. I kid you not.  Don’t even know if progressive+chiptune has been a thing before now, but if you’re a fan of the soundtracks for games like Risk of Rain or Fez, I think you’ll be all over this:

Jesse comes by his love of progressive music honestly. Here’s his piano cover of Animal As Leaders‘s “Tempting Time.”  Yup. This:

Jesse plays in a band too, formed by guys who’ve become dear friends of ours. I’ll do a Monday profile on them soon, but if you’re blazing with curiosity, head over to The Fire Tonight on bandcamp and listen to their latest album, How Could Anyone Do This?
